Description: West Palm Beach, Florida civil rights lawyers represented the Plaintiff who sued the Defendant on an Americans with Disabilities Act violation theory.

Defendant apparently owns the Holiday Inn - Boca Raton North.

This case was one of many similar cases filed against various hotel owners in Florida.

"The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including employment, education, transportation, state and local government services, and telecommunications.

The ADA defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Major life activities include activities such as seeing, hearing, walking, talking, breathing, eating, sleeping, standing, lifting, bending, performing manual tasks, learning, caring for oneself, and working.

The ADA requires businesses and organizations to provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities, unless doing so would cause an undue hardship. Reasonable accommodations can include things like providing a ramp or elevator for a person with a mobility impairment, allowing a person with diabetes to take breaks to check their blood sugar, or providing a sign language interpreter for a person who is deaf.

The ADA also prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment. This means that employers cannot refuse to hire someone, fire someone, or demote someone because they have a disability. Employers must also provide reasonable accommodations to employees with disabilities, unless doing so would cause an undue hardship.

The ADA is an important law that protects the rights of individuals with disabilities. If you believe that you have been discriminated against because of your disability, you should contact the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

Here are some examples of discrimination that is prohibited by the ADA:

A business refuses to serve a customer with a disability.
A school refuses to enroll a student with a disability.
An employer refuses to hire a person with a disability, even though the person is qualified for the job.
An employer fires an employee with a disability because of their disability.
A transit agency refuses to provide a reasonable accommodation to a person with a disability.

If you believe that you have been discriminated against because of your disability, you should contact the EEOC or the DOJ to file a complaint. You can also contact a disability rights organization for assistance."
