Golsby, a convicted sex offender, apparently randomly selected Ms. Tokes as she was leaving She was a senior at Ohio State University and was three months short of graduating.

The States sought the death penalty.

Toakes was shot twice in the head.

Outcome: Defendant was found guilty with a recommendation that he serve three consecutive life sentences. The jury voted 8 to 4 on the death penalty issue.
