Additional Information: Thomas Mansfield Dunlap was born October 16, 1972, in Morristown, New Jersey. His family moved to Houston, Texas in the mid-seventies and then to Great Falls, Virginia in 1980, and on to Middleburg, Virginia in Loudoun County in 1986, maintaining a home in Loudoun while living overseas in London, England and Geneva, Switzerland where Tom graduated from the International School of Geneva in 1990. In 1993 Tom interned as a reporter for the Loudoun-Times Mirror newspaper. Thereafter he graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1994, with a BA in English and Theater, having been a member of the varsity fencing team and rugby team. From 1994 to 1996 Tom worked in New York City for Chemical Bank (now Chase Manhattan), PaineWebber and the Bank of New York in both retail and commercial banking, ending his banking career on an institutional custody securities trading desk. In 1996 Tom left New York to attend law school at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia where he became a member of Phi Delta Phi, International Legal Honors Fraternity, and continued to play rugby for the only law school team in the country. In 1998 he was honored with selection into the law school's clinical program acting as an advocate for Federal prisoners through the Department of Justice. After graduation, he went work for the Leesburg, Virginia law firm of Bredimus & Associates, P.C. In 2001 law firm became Bredimus, Dunlap & Grubb. In 2002, he and Daniel Grubb left the firm to open their own law practice, Dunlap & Grubb, P.C. Tom enlisted in the Army shortly after law school, attending basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia where he earned the Army's Excellence in Physical Fitness Award. In March of 2001 he transferred to the Maryland Army National Guard. Tom platoon leader (Second Lieutenant) of A Troop, 1-158th Cavalry (RECON). Tom holds a private pilot license, and is a former National Silver Medalist in Burmese Kickboxing.
